[ keep bouncing ]
I missed the part about how all of this is supposed to make sense
At the top of a green hill, not hard to climb, but a sweat is broken
I missed the part about why I was climbing
Why were you climbing?
Why did you decide to walk beside me and extend your hand when I lost my footing?
Why did you follow close, but spend most of your time yelling about my pace and route
All the while you were pulling a hand mirror from your pocket and whispering mixed messages of bitter self-contempt and exaggerated words to console your self
I missed the part about how this all fits together
At the top of this beautiful hill I sit at the foot of another
I turn around to watch the sky stretch on into eternity
A man flies a kite that keeps reaching farther into the clouds
His son says…
“Farther father, farther…”
A fading sun into the east sheds one last ray of light over the open expanse in front of me
I turn my back to it and continue to climb
There is a building ahead of me
Seems it might be out of reach
I’ll go there.
That makes sense
